Food Poisoning ClaimsFood Poisoning Claims

A food poisoning claim is a claim for injury to your digestive system caused by eating food containing a large amount of bacteria.

There are 6 types of bacteria which can cause different types of food poisoning depending upon which food type it is on. For example the most common type of bacteria can be found on chicken and other poultry, red meat, untreated water and unpasteurised milk .

Bacteria on food can be killed if cooked correctly and food must also be stored correctly to prevent any small amounts of bacteria from multiplying. Primary symptoms of food poisoning might include vomiting, nausea, diarrhoea, abdominal cramps and pains and may develop from 20 minutes up to 30 hours of ingestion. The most common places food poisoning claims are made against are food suppliers including restaurants, supermarkets and hotels.
